All Saints Church is a Church of England parish church located in Woodford Wells, London. It serves the local community as a place of worship and gathering.
History of All Saints Church
In the late 1800s, many more people moved to the Woodford area. The old parish church, St Mary's Church, Woodford, became too small. To help with the growing population, a new church called All Saints was built.
The church first opened its doors in 1874. It was designed by an architect named F. E. C. Streatfeild. Soon after, more parts were added to the building. A north aisle was built in 1876, and a special room for the choir was added in 1885.
In 1875, All Saints Church was given its own special area, called a "chapelry." This area was made up of parts from the parishes of St Mary's and St Peter-in-the-Forest, Walthamstow. Later, in 1906, All Saints officially became its own separate parish.
All Saints Church Today
In 1979, All Saints Church was given a special status. It became a Grade II listed building. This means it is an important historical building that needs to be protected.
The church follows a specific style of worship within the Church of England. It is known for its Charismatic evangelical tradition. This means the church focuses on a lively faith and sharing the Christian message.
