Alla Shulimovna Kushnir (Hebrew: אלה שולימובנה קושניר; Russian: Алла Шулимовна Кушнир; born August 11, 1941 – died August 2, 2013) was a super talented chess player. She was born in the Soviet Union and later became an Israeli citizen. Alla Kushnir earned important chess titles from FIDE, the world chess organization. She became a Woman International Master (WIM) in 1962 and a Woman Grandmaster (WGM) in 1976. These titles show she was one of the best female chess players in the world!

- In 1970, she tied for first place in Beltsy. She then won a special playoff match against Ranniku in Moscow in 1971 to become the official USSR Women's Champion!
Later Life
Alla Kushnir passed away in 2013 in Tel Aviv, Israel. She was almost 72 years old. Her legacy as a powerful and determined chess player continues to inspire many.
