Where is Allah?
Allah is located in Maricopa County, Arizona. It is about 1,955 feet (596 m) above sea level. This means it is quite high up from the ocean.
The Story of Allah
Allah has an interesting history. It was first called "Brill's Ranch." But its name was changed because it sounded like a desert in a famous book. The book was called The Garden of Allah. Over time, the name was made shorter to what it is today.
A Special Resort
In 1913, a man named John Sanger bought Brill's Ranch. He turned it into a resort. This resort was called "Garden of Allah." It is thought to be one of the very first dude ranches in Arizona. A dude ranch is a type of holiday resort. Guests can experience ranch life. They often ride horses and do other outdoor activities.
YMCA and Post Office
The YMCA opened a summer camp at the site in 1918. Many kids enjoyed their summers there. A post office also operated in Allah for a short time. It was open from 1917 to 1919. Frances Sanger was the postmaster. She was in charge of the mail.
Allah's Population and Railroad
In 1960, about 100 people lived in Allah. To help people get to the area, a special stop was built for trains. Today, you can still see the old ruins of the Allah Railroad Station. It is a reminder of the past.
