Allamoore (sometimes spelled Allamore) is a tiny, unincorporated community in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. This means it's a small place without its own local government, like a city or town. It's located just north of Interstate 10. You can find it about 22 miles (35 km) southeast of Sierra Blanca. It's also about 11 miles (18 km) west of Van Horn.

A Look Back at Allamoore

Allamoore was first settled in the 1880s. A post office opened there in 1884. It was called Acme. But it closed just two years later. A new post office started in 1888. It was named Allamoore after the first postmistress, Alla R. Moore. This office closed in 1895 but reopened two years later.

Allamoore's Changing Population

For most of its history, Allamoore has been a quiet ranching community. Not many people lived there. In 1914, only 10 people lived in the area. By the mid-1920s, the population grew to 25. Just before the Great Depression, it reached 75 people.

In the mid-1930s, the number of residents was around 25. At that time, 70 students from nearby ranches went to Allamoore School. The community saw another increase in population in the mid-1940s. This growth lasted for about 20 years. After that, the community's population slowly declined. As of 2000, about 25 people lived in the Allamoore area.

Allamoore's Time Zone

Allamoore is special because it's one of the few places in Texas that is in the Mountain Time Zone. Most of Texas is in the Central Time Zone. El Paso is another Texas city in the Mountain Time Zone.

Learning in Allamoore

Allamoore has a history with its own school district. By the 1988–89 school year, the Allamoore Consolidated Independent School District was very small. It covered about 2,100 square miles (5,400 km2). But it only had eight students! This made it the smallest school district in Texas.

In 1992, the district's name changed to the Allamoore Independent School District. Then, on July 1, 1995, a big change happened. Allamoore ISD joined with the Culberson County Independent School District. This district was based in nearby Van Horn. Together, they formed the Culberson County-Allamoore Independent School District.

Today, the entire county is part of the service area for El Paso Community College. This means students in Allamoore can attend classes there.
