Allerton (also known as Allerville) is a small, quiet community. It is located in Clinton Township, which is part of Hunterdon County in the state of New Jersey, United States.
Where is Allerton?
Allerton is easy to find on a map. It is located right around Route 31 and Allerton Road. This community is about 1.8 miles (2.9 km) west of the Round Valley Reservoir. It's also about 3.3 miles (5.3 km) southeast of the Spruce Run Reservoir. These are both large bodies of water in the area.
A Look Back in Time
In the past, Allerton was a busy little place. By the year 1846, the community had several important buildings. There was a general store where people could buy supplies. A steam saw mill helped process wood. The community also had a Baptist church for worship. A chair factory made furniture, and there were several homes for families. This shows that Allerton was a self-sufficient community long ago.
