About Its Name
Scientists give plants special names to help identify them. This is called taxonomy.
This plant was first described in 1845 by a scientist named Miquel. He named it Casuarina trichodon. Later, in 1982, another scientist named L.A.S.Johnson changed its name to Allocasuarina trichodon, which is what we call it today.
