Who is Ally Seifried?
Growing Up and Learning
Ally Seifried is from Oklahoma, and her family has lived there for many generations. She is a member of the Cherokee Nation. She learned at home for a while before going to Claremore Christian School for high school.
Later, Ally went to Rogers State University. She played basketball there while studying. In 2015, she earned her college degree in political science. This is the study of how governments work.
Starting Her Career
After college, Ally Seifried worked for Oklahoma State Senator Dan Newberry. She was his executive assistant from 2016 to 2017. Today, she works for Müllerhaus Legacy. This is a publishing company located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Becoming a State Senator
Running for Office
In 2022, Ally Seifried decided to run for the Oklahoma Senate. The seat for the 2nd district was open because Senator Marty Quinn was retiring.
Ally faced three other candidates in the Republican primary election. These candidates were Keith Austin, Jarrin Jackson, and Coy Jenkins. Ally Seifried moved on to a second round of voting, called a runoff election. She ran against Jarrin Jackson.
Ally Seifried won the runoff election in August. Then, in the general election in November, she defeated Jennifer Esau, the candidate from the Democratic Party. Ally Seifried officially started her job as a state senator on November 16, 2022.
