Almolonga is a town and a municipality in Guatemala. It is located in the Quetzaltenango Department. In 2023, about 17,613 people lived there.
The town is on the road between Quetzaltenango City and Zunil. Most people in Almolonga are indigenous. They speak the K'iche' (Quiché) language.
Almolonga is famous for its farming. It is known as the "Vegetable Basket of the Americas." Farmers grow many vegetables there. They use special methods to help their crops grow big and strong.
If you visit, you can enjoy the nearby hot springs. These are called thermal baths. There is also a beautiful place called Paradise Valley.
Religion in Almolonga
Many people in Almolonga follow the Evangelical Christian faith. The first Evangelical church started here in the 1970s. By 2016, there were about 25 such churches in the town.
These churches helped the community a lot. They provided useful things like better ways to harvest crops. This helped the town's farmers become more successful.
