Almussafes (in Spanish: Almusafes) is a town in Spain. It is a municipality located in the comarca of Ribera Baixa, which is part of the Valencian Community.
The Story of Almussafes
Almussafes started a long time ago as a small Muslim village. It had a few farmhouses and a tall tower. The name Almussafes comes from an Arabic word, Masaf, which means "customs office." This was a place where people collected fees for goods moving in and out of the nearby city of Valencia. In 1672, Almussafes became its own separate town, no longer part of the Benifaió municipality.
