This area is found between the cities of Morristown and Jefferson City. Alpha used to be an "unincorporated community," meaning it wasn't officially part of a city. Later, it became a part of Morristown.

A post office was opened in Alpha in 1877. A post office is where people send and receive mail. This post office served the community for many years. It closed down in 1928.
