Alprose is a famous Swiss company that makes delicious chocolate. It's located in a town called Caslano in Ticino, Switzerland. The company started making chocolate in 1957.

How Alprose Started
Alprose began its journey in 1957. It was first known as Titlis-Chocolat. This name was inspired by Titlis, a beautiful mountain in the Swiss Alps.
Just a few years later, in 1964, a person named Dr Hans Imhoff took over the company. Dr Imhoff also owned another big chocolate company called Stollwerck. Because of this, Alprose became part of Stollwerck AG in 1971.
In 1992, the company changed its name again. It became Chocolat Alprose. This new name used the brand name that many people already knew.
Later, from 2002 to 2011, Alprose was part of Barry Callebaut, another large chocolate group. Since 2011, Alprose has been part of the Baronie company.
What Kinds of Chocolate Does Alprose Make?
Alprose makes many different kinds of chocolate. They produce various chocolate bars. They also make small, thin chocolates called napolitains. Another type of candy they create are dragées, which are small candies with a hard shell.
Alprose is proud to say that their chocolate is made in a special way. They produce it without adding extra CO2 to the air. This means their chocolate production is good for the environment.
Alprose and Nature Projects
Alprose isn't just about chocolate. The company also helps with important research projects. They study the plants and flowers found in the Alps. They work together with the Swiss National Park on these projects.

Visiting the Alprose Factory
The Alprose factory is located in Caslano. It has a special visitor center and a museum. This museum first opened its doors in 1991.
Visitors can walk along a raised walkway inside the factory. From this walkway, you can watch how chocolate bars are made. You can see the whole process, starting from the cocoa beans.
