Alto Pass is a small village in Union County, Illinois, in the United States. In 2020, about 342 people lived there. This was a small decrease from 391 people in 2010.
The village is known for being close to the Bald Knob Cross and the Bald Knob Wilderness. These are popular landmarks in the area. Alto Pass is about 5.1 miles northwest of Cobden, Illinois. A main road, Illinois Route 127, runs just west of the village's downtown area.

A Look Back in Time
Alto Pass used to have a different name: Quetil. The village was officially started in 1875. This happened when the railroad tracks were built all the way to this spot. The railroad helped the village grow.
