Alto Verá is a district in Paraguay, a country in South America. It is located in the northern part of the Itapúa region. This area is famous for its strong women's football teams. It also has many dance schools. The people here mostly earn their living by growing crops. The main crops are soy and wheat.

A Look Back in Time
Alto Verá became a district on December 20, 1984. It was first named Doña Heriberta Stroessner de Iglesias. This new district was formed by separating from the San Pedro del Paraná district. A few years later, in 1989, its name was changed by law to Alto Verá.
Exploring Alto Verá's Geography
Alto Verá is found in the northern part of the Itapúa department. It is about 95 kilometers (about 59 miles) away from Encarnación. Encarnación is the capital city of the department.

Alto Verá shares its borders with several other places:
- To the North: Yuty, San Juan Nepomuceno, and Tavaí. These are all in the Caazapá department.
- To the East: The district of Itapúa Poty.
- To the South: The districts of Obligado, Bella Vista, and Pirapó.
- To the West: The district of San Pedro del Paraná.
Natural Wonders
One of the most exciting places in Alto Verá is the San Rafael National Park. This park is a forest reserve. It is often covered in fog, which makes it look mysterious. The park has lots of plants and beautiful views. You can also find several fast-flowing waterfalls there. It is a great place to explore nature.
Who Lives in Alto Verá?
According to a national count in 2002, Alto Verá had a total population of 13,799 people. Out of these, 529 people lived in the main town area. The rest lived in the countryside. As of 2023, the population is estimated to be around 18,909 people.
