What's in a Name? The Origin of Yuty
The name Yuty has two interesting ideas about where it came from.
Place of Thorns
One idea is that the name comes from the Guarani language. In Guarani, yu means a type of thorn, and ty means a place. So, Yuty could mean "place of thorns."
Coming from the Meeting Place
Another idea suggests that Yuty was once a popular spot for people to gather. When locals were asked where they were coming from, they would say, "Ayu aty hagui." This phrase means "I come from the meeting place." Over time, this long phrase might have shortened and changed into the name Yuty.
