Amédée Grab (born February 3, 1930 – died May 19, 2019) was an important Roman Catholic leader from Switzerland. He served as a bishop for many years.

Early Life and Priesthood

Amédée Grab was born in Switzerland in 1930. He decided to dedicate his life to the church from a young age. In 1954, he became a priest. This meant he could lead church services and guide people in their faith.

Becoming a Bishop

A bishop is a high-ranking leader in the Catholic Church. They oversee a specific area called a diocese. In 1987, Amédée Grab became an auxiliary bishop. This means he helped the main bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Fribourg. He also held the title of titular bishop of Canæ.

From 1995 to 1998, Amédée Grab became the main bishop for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Fribourg. In this role, he was responsible for leading the Catholic community in that region.

Bishop of Chur

In 1998, Bishop Grab was appointed to lead the Roman Catholic Diocese of Chur. He served as the bishop of Chur until 2007. This was a very important position in the Swiss Catholic Church.

Later Life

After serving as Bishop of Chur for almost a decade, Amédée Grab retired in 2007. He passed away in 2019 at the age of 89.
