Amber M. Baker is an American politician who works to help the people of North Carolina. She is a member of the Democratic Party. In 2020, she was elected to represent District 72 in the North Carolina House of Representatives. This district includes parts of Forsyth County.
Amber Baker's Journey
Education and Early Career
Amber Baker went to college to become a teacher. She earned a special degree called a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Winston-Salem State University. This means she studied how to teach young children.
Later, she continued her studies at Ohio State University. There, she earned two more advanced degrees: a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy. These degrees focused on leading and managing schools.
Before becoming a politician, Ms. Baker worked as a school principal. From 2008 to 2019, she was the principal of Kimberley Park Elementary School. This school is in Winston-Salem, N.C., and is part of the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools system. As a principal, she helped guide students and teachers every day.
Becoming a State Representative
In 2020, Amber Baker decided to run for a political office. She wanted to represent District 72 in the North Carolina House of Representatives. This is a group of people who make laws for the state of North Carolina.
She first won a primary election, which is when members of the same political party choose their candidate. Then, in the main election, she was chosen by the voters. She won with a large number of votes. This meant she would become a voice for the people of Forsyth County in the state government.
