About Amber Gill's Life and Career
Amber Rose Gill was born on 4 August 1997 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Before she became famous on TV, she worked as a beauty therapist. She even helped run a salon with her aunt.
Becoming a TV Star
In June 2019, Amber joined the fifth season of Love Island as a contestant. She entered the villa on the very first day. During the show, she was paired with different people like Callum Macleod and Michael Griffiths.
However, she ended up winning the show with rugby player Greg O'Shea. He joined the show later on Day 44. They won the series on 29 July, beating other popular contestants. Even though some viewers didn't like her at first, many changed their minds later. They felt they had "judged [her] too quickly."
After Love Island
After winning Love Island, Amber appeared on many other TV shows. These included Love Island: Aftersun, This Morning, and Good Morning Britain. She also launched her own clothing line with a brand called Misspap.
New TV Shows and Writing a Book
In April 2021, Amber showed her knowledge on Celebrity Mastermind. Her special topic was the movie How to Train Your Dragon. In June 2021, it was announced that Amber would host a show called The Full Treatment on ITV2. She hosted it with another Love Island winner, Kem Cetinay.
This show worked with a mental health charity. Amber and Kem gave celebrities makeovers while talking about their feelings and well-being. Amber was also asked to be a judge for a writing competition. This competition looked for stories from different backgrounds.
Later, she was asked if she would like to write her own book. Amber was surprised but excited by this chance. She wanted her book to be a Black love story. This was because she felt there weren't many stories like that when she was growing up. Her book, Until I Met You, was co-written with Nadine Gonzalez. It is set in Tobago, which is where some of Amber's family comes from. The book came out in July 2022. Amber hopes to write more books in the future.
In 2022, Amber also took part in the survival show Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins on Channel 4. She left the show after two days.
