Amelia Perrier (1841 – 1875) was an Irish novelist and travel writer. She wrote exciting stories and shared her adventures from different parts of the world.
About Amelia Perrier
Amelia Perrier was born in 1841 in a city called Cork (city) in Ireland. Her parents were John Johnston Perrier and Anna Browne. Her father worked as a lawyer, also known as a barrister, in Cork.
Her Early Life and Becoming a Writer
After Amelia's father passed away, her family moved to London, a big city in England. Amelia started working as a journalist, which means she wrote for newspapers or magazines. She also became a novelist, writing books with made-up stories.
At first, people really liked her novels. They received good reviews from readers and critics. However, Amelia faced a difficult time when her brother became very ill and sadly passed away in 1872. This sad event affected her health.
Travel and Later Years
To try and feel better, Amelia decided to travel to Morocco, a country in North Africa. She hoped the change of scenery and climate would help her recover. When she returned home, she wrote a travel book about her experiences.
Sadly, it turned out that Amelia was suffering from a serious lung illness called consumption (also known as tuberculosis). Even though she received help from the Royal Literary Fund, an organization that supports writers, Amelia passed away in Sussex just two years later, in 1875. She was only 34 years old.
