Six Flags White Water is a huge water park in Cobb County, Georgia. It's located northwest of Atlanta. The park covers about 69 acres, which is like 50 football fields! It first opened in 1984 as White Water Atlanta.
In 1999, the park joined the Six Flags family. Now, it's often promoted with Six Flags Over Georgia. These two parks work together, even though they are about 15 miles apart. In 2012, over 500,000 people visited Six Flags White Water. This made it one of the top water parks in North America.

History of Six Flags White Water
Six Flags White Water was built by Silver Dollar City. This company is now known as Herschend Family Entertainment. It opened in 1984, similar to their other water parks. These included parks in Branson, Missouri and Oklahoma.
In May 1999, the park was sold to the same group that owns Six Flags Over Georgia. That's when it became "Six Flags White Water." Like its sister park, Six Flags Theme Parks manages it. Today, both parks often offer special deals for each other.
Six Flags White Water is one of only four stand-alone Six Flags water parks. It's also the only one not called "Hurricane Harbor."
Around 2010, Six Flags started changing some of its ride themes. For example, "Wiggles Water World" became "Buccaneer Bay" in 2011.
In July 2011, Six Flags added the Flash Pass system to White Water. This was a big deal! It was the first water park in the world to use this virtual line system. It lets you "wait" in line for rides without actually standing there. This system was so popular that nine more Six Flags water parks added it in 2012. For the 2013 season, White Water added a new ride called Typhoon Twister. It's a five-story bowl slide!
In August 2013, Six Flags announced a new water park. It was called Hurricane Harbor and was built at Six Flags Over Georgia. Even with a new water park nearby, White Water remained popular. Six Flags also expanded White Water's "Dive-In Movies." These are movies shown on a big screen while guests float in the Atlanta Ocean wave pool. A stage was also added for concerts and music events. This stage was ready in 2014.
For the 2016 season, White Water added a new mat racing slide. It's called Wahoo Racer.
Exploring the Park Layout
Six Flags White Water has four main areas. Each area has different rides and attractions. When the park first opened, it had Wildwater Lagoon, Slippery Ridge, and Pine Valley. Flash Flood Canyon was added later in 1998.
Wildwater Lagoon Area
Wildwater Lagoon is where you'll find the park's main entrance. It also has important services like Guest Service and First Aid. This area has an activity pool. You can also find the splashdown areas for the three Body Flumes here. The two Rapids raft flumes are also in this section. Mutiny Chute is a plunge slide, and Lizard's Tail is for younger kids. The newest ride here is Typhoon Twister. It's a huge water slide with a 67-foot bowl!
Pine Valley Area
Pine Valley is home to the park's big wave pool, called the Atlanta Ocean. It also has a relaxing lazy river. This river is known as the Little Hooch. It's named after the nearby Chattahoochee River. Kids can play in Captain Kid's Cove Buccaneer Bay. There's also the fun Treehouse Island play area. Older kids and adults can slide into the giant blue and yellow funnel of Tornado.
Slippery Ridge Area
In Slippery Ridge, you can try the super-fast Dragon's Tail speed slides. Or, you can race your friends on the Wahoo Racer. This new-for-2016 slide has six lanes for racing on mats. It replaced the older 100-Meter Splash slides. If you like raft rides, try the enclosed Black River Falls. The Gulf Coast Screamer is another fun raft slide. You can ride solo or with a friend on Caribbean Plunge. The Bahama Bob-Slide uses large round rafts. Up to six people can ride at once! The Tidal Wave body flume ends in a splash pool connected to the Little Hooch lazy river.
Flash Flood Canyon Area
Flash Flood Canyon has the park's tallest single slide. It's called the Dive Bomber. This slide shares a tower with the Run-A-Way River. Run-A-Way River is a fun family raft slide.
