Ameyaw Kissi Debrah, known as Ameyaw Debrah, is a famous Ghanaian blogger and journalist. He created AmeyawDebrah.com, a popular website that shares news about Ghanaian celebrities. Early Life and School
Ameyaw Debrah went to Adisadel College in Cape Coast. He was the editor for his school's magazine in 1999. He later earned a degree in publishing from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). After college, he completed his National Service at Ovation International Magazine in Accra.
His Career Journey
Starting Out in Journalism
While at Ovation magazine, Ameyaw wrote a lot about Ghana's entertainment world. His articles were read by people all over the world. After his service, he became a writer for the Star newspaper. In 2007, he started writing for several African websites. These included Jamati.com, Orijin-ent.com, and ModernGhana.com.
Later in 2007, he joined Voices of Africa, a media project from the Netherlands. He sent videos, photos, and news from Ghana to Africanews.com. In 2008, he became the entertainment editor for GhanaWeb.com. He also started his blog, AmeyawDebrah.com, that same year. He left Ghanaweb in 2012 to focus on his blog full-time. He also works as a correspondent for StarGist on Africa Magic. He writes content for EbonyLife TV and Glitz Africa Magazine. He was also an ambassador for the Malta Guinness Africa Rising Campaign.
AmeyawDebrah.com: A Popular Blog
AmeyawDebrah.com started with help from a friend who hosted his website. Since it began, the website has reached readers around the world. In 2010, the website launched its own iPhone app. This was made with the help of a web developer called MobBase. In 2012, the website held an online talent show. This competition helped find and promote new music artists in Ghana. Ameyaw also started the My Ghana Campaign. This platform allowed readers to record short videos about important issues in Ghana.
Working with Other Companies
In December 2014, Ameyaw Debrah joined Ringier Ghana. He helped launch and manage Pulse Ghana. He left in August 2015 to join Genesis Technology. In September 2015, he became the editor-in-chief of Yen.com.gh. He left that role in September 2017.
Managing Music Artists
Coptic, a music producer from Ghana, chose Ameyaw Debrah as his manager in Ghana. Coptic released The Black Star Line Mixtape, Vol 1 in 2011. This music project aimed to connect American rappers with their African roots. Ameyaw helped Coptic introduce his music to the African market. Besides managing Coptic, Ameyaw also looks for new music talents. These talents can be signed to Rebel Musik, Coptic's African music company. Ameyaw has said he is thankful for the chance to work with Coptic. He also enjoys helping other Ghanaian and African artists grow their careers. Ameyaw also managed the artist Pappy Kojo in 2014.
Ameyaw TV
In 2018, Ameyaw Debrah launched Ameyaw TV. This is a website that shows different video programs. After holding auditions for TV presenters, Ameyaw TV released three shows. These were Daily Buzz, News in One, and Trend Mill. Later, new shows like Trending GH were added. More shows are expected to come out in the future.
His Family Life
Ameyaw Debrah married Elsie Darkoa on March 6, 2018. They have a son named Nathan. Ameyaw also has another son, Samuel Amo-Ameyaw. Samuel plays football for Southampton FC.
