Adam Aminé Daniel (born April 18, 1994), known as Aminé, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He became famous with his first hit song, "Caroline". This song reached number 11 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, which lists the most popular songs. Aminé released his first studio album, Good for You, in 2017. His second album, Limbo, came out in 2020.

Early Life and Education

Aminé's parents came from Eritrea and Ethiopia. His mother worked at a post office, and his father was a teacher and translator. Aminé grew up in Woodlawn, a neighborhood in Northeast Portland. At home, his family spoke Amharic.

He went to Benson Polytechnic High School. Later, he studied marketing at Portland State University. However, he left college to focus completely on his music career. Aminé also worked as an intern at Complex, a hip-hop magazine.

Music Career Highlights

Starting Out (2014–2015)

Aminé began his music journey in 2014. He released his first mixtape (a collection of songs), called Odyssey to Me. In the same year, he put out his first extended play (EP), which is shorter than an album, named En Vogue. In 2015, he released another mixtape, Calling Brío.

Breakthrough with "Caroline" and Good for You (2016–2017)

On March 9, 2016, Aminé released his first official single, "Caroline". He also directed the music video for "Caroline" himself. He shared it on his Vevo channel on YouTube in June 2016. The song quickly became popular. It reached number 11 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. By June 2017, the song was certified three-times platinum. This means it sold or streamed millions of copies.

In August 2016, Aminé joined Republic Records, a major music label. After "Caroline" became a hit, he released his second single with Republic Records, "Baba," in November 2016. He also performed "Caroline" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

In March 2017, Aminé released "REDMERCEDES." Its music video came out in April. People praised the song for sounding like early 2000s rap, similar to Missy Elliott's music. Missy Elliott and AJ Tracey even joined him on an official remix of the song. He also released "Heebiejeebies" with Kehlani around the same time.

In June 2017, XXL magazine chose Aminé for its "2017 Freshman Class." This list highlights ten new and exciting rappers. He then released the single "Turf."

On June 22, 2017, Aminé announced his first studio album, Good for You. Before the album came out, he released singles like "Blinds" and "Wedding Crashers" with Offset. Good for You was released on July 28, 2017. It debuted at number 31 on the US Billboard 200 chart. After the album, Aminé released the single "Squeeze" in October 2017.

OnePointFive and Limbo (2018–2020)

In January 2018, Aminé was featured on Rejjie Snow's song "Egyptian Luvr." He later released "Campfire" with Injury Reserve in April. Aminé then announced his project OnePointFive, which was released on August 15, 2018. He also contributed to the soundtrack for the movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse with his song "Invincible."

In 2020, Aminé released the singles "Shimmy" and "Riri." On July 6, 2020, he released "Compensating" featuring Young Thug. At the same time, he announced his second studio album, Limbo, which was released on August 7, 2020.

Recent Projects (2021–Present)

In October 2021, Aminé released the single "Charmander." He then announced his mixtape, TwoPointFive, which came out in November.

On April 7, 2023, Aminé and Kaytranada released "4eva" with Pharrell Williams. This was the first song from their joint album, Kaytraminé. In October 2023, Aminé was featured on the song "C'mon" by South Korean singer Jini.

Personal Life

Aminé lives in Los Angeles. He is a big fan of director Quentin Tarantino. Aminé hopes to direct films and work in fashion in the future.

Political Views

Aminé has openly shared his thoughts on politics. He has spoken about former US President Donald Trump. During his first TV performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in November 2016, Aminé changed his song "Caroline" to include a verse about the 2016 US presidential election results. He spoke about unity and his pride in his heritage.

He has also talked about immigration. Aminé said, "My parents are immigrants to this country. They came to this country for a better opportunity, just like everyone else."

In October 2023, Aminé signed a letter asking President Joe Biden to help end the bombing in the Gaza Strip. The letter also asked for help to get humanitarian aid into Gaza.
