Amina Hersi Moghe (Somali: Aamina Xirsi Mooge, Arabic: أمينة موجي هرسي) was born in 1964. She is a successful Somali entrepreneur. An entrepreneur is someone who starts and runs their own business. Amina has launched many big projects in Kampala, Uganda.
Her investments include the Oasis Shopping Mall in Kampala's main business area. She also built the Laburnam Courts Apartments on Nakasero Hill. This is near the State House Kampala. She is currently building the first sugar factory in Northern Uganda. This factory, called Atiak Sugar Factory, will bring jobs and development to the region. It is the first large industrial project there. Amina is also one of the biggest sellers of cement and building materials in Kampala. Her successful businesses in Uganda make her a great role model for young African girls.

Early Life and Business Start
Amina was born in Bungoma, Western Kenya. Her mother, Sarah Hersi Ali, was a famous businesswoman. Amina's uncle, Adam Hersi Ali, also inspired her. He worked as a Financial Secretary of Treasury in Kenya's Ministry of Finance in the late 1980s. This role helps manage the country's money.
When she was young, Amina and her sister often joined their family. They traded goods between Kenya and Uganda. Their mother sent them to accounting school. There, they learned important business skills. Having a strong business-minded mother helped Amina become brave in business.
Her biggest risk was closing her successful hardware store in Kenya. She then started a new business in Uganda in 1996. Uganda was becoming stable after some difficult times. She used her skills to open a hardware store in Kampala. This big step into the unknown was the start of her amazing business journey.
Building a Business Empire
Amina quickly got used to her new home in Uganda. She became an important link for her family's trade. She started to grow the family business. Soon, she entered the real estate world. Real estate means buying, selling, or renting land and buildings.
Amina became one of the wealthiest people in Uganda. She owns the Oasis Centre, a huge shopping mall. She also owns the luxurious Laburnam Courts apartments. Both are in the center of Kampala. She also runs one of the largest companies that sells cement and other building materials in the country.
In 2008, Amina received the Woman Investor of the Year Award. This award recognized her large projects. These projects are changing the look of Kampala's skyline.

Recent Developments
In 2016, Amina Hersi Moghe started building the Atiak Sugar Factory. She did this through her company, Horyal Investment Holding Company Limited. The factory is in Atiak, Amuru District, in Northern Uganda. This project costs about US$120 million. It was expected to be ready in 2016. Commercial production was planned for 2017.
This factory will be the first big industrial project in Northern Uganda. Many women are helping with the factory's development. They grow sugarcane for the factory. They will also be the main sellers of the sugar once it's made. Over 6,000 women in the region are expected to benefit from this project. They will get jobs and income.
