Amyema gibberula is a special kind of plant that grows on other plants. It is called a hemiparasite. This means it gets some of its food and water from its host plant. However, it can also make its own food using sunlight. This plant belongs to the Loranthaceae family, which is often called the mistletoe family. You can find it growing in parts of Australia. These areas include Western Australia, the Northern Territory, and South Australia.

What Does It Look Like?

This plant has flowers that grow in pairs. Each flower usually has four petals. The parts inside the flower that hold pollen are called stamens. The thin stalks of the stamens are shorter than the pollen-holding parts.

The flowers can be green, red, pink, and white. You can see them blooming from April to September. They also bloom again from November to December. The leaves of Amyema gibberula are long and round, like a cylinder.

Where Does It Live?

A. gibberula grows on other plants. It is often found on different types of Hakea and Grevillea plants. It uses these plants as its hosts.

How It Got Its Name

This plant was first described in 1886. A scientist named Tate gave it the name Loranthus gibberulus. Later, in 1992, another scientist named Danser changed its genus. He moved it to the Amyema group. This is how it got its current scientific name, Amyema gibberula.
