Her Journey in Education

Ana Alós studied at the University of Zaragoza where she earned a degree in Economics. She also continued her studies and received a master's degree in Business Administration and Management from Comillas Pontifical University. This education helped her prepare for her career in public service.

Starting Her Path in Politics

Ana Alós began her political journey in 2003. She was elected as a city councilor in Huesca. A city councilor is like a local representative who helps make decisions for the city. She served two terms in this role, learning a lot about how local government works.

Becoming Mayor of Huesca

In 2011, Ana Alós was elected as the Mayor of Huesca. This was a very important moment because she became the first woman ever to be elected mayor in the city's history. As mayor, she was responsible for leading the city and making decisions that affected its residents. Her term as mayor lasted until 2015.

Serving in the Spanish Parliament

After her time as mayor, Ana Alós moved on to serve in the national government of Spain.

Representing Huesca in Congress

In 2015, she was elected to the Congress of Deputies, which is one of the two houses of the Spanish Parliament, similar to the House of Representatives in some other countries. She represented the people of Huesca in this role. She was re-elected to the Congress in the 2015 general elections.

Becoming a Senator

Later, in the general elections held on April 28, 2019, Ana Alós was elected as a Senator for the province of Huesca. The Senate is the other house of the Spanish Parliament. As a senator, she continues to represent her region and work on national laws. She was also elected to the Congress of Deputies again from Huesca in the 2023 Spanish general election.

What She Does Now

As a politician, Ana Alós has been involved in several important committees. She was part of the Spanish Senate committee that looked at how agreements to fight gender-based violence were being put into action. She is also a member of the Permanent Deputation of Spain, which is a group of lawmakers that works even when the main Parliament is not in session. She is also a member of the Finance and Civil Service Commission and the Education and Sport Commission, where she helps make decisions about money, public services, schools, and sports.
