Ana Botella Serrano (born on July 23, 1953) is a Spanish politician. She was the Mayor of Madrid from late 2011 to 2015. She was also the wife of José María Aznar, who was the Prime Minister of Spain. Ana Botella was the first woman to become the Mayor of Madrid.

Early Life and Education
Ana Botella was born in Madrid, Spain, on July 23, 1953. She went to a school called Colegio Irlandesas Madrid for her early education. Later, she studied law at the Complutense University of Madrid. After finishing her studies, she passed a special exam to become a civil servant. A civil servant is someone who works for the government.
Starting in Politics
Botella joined a political group called the People's Alliance in 1978. For 14 years, she worked as a civil servant in different government departments. These included the Ministry of the Interior (which deals with internal security and public administration), the Ministry of Public Works, and the Ministry of Finance.
Working for Madrid
Ana Botella was part of the Madrid City Council from 2003 to 2011. During this time, she worked as a deputy mayor. She was in charge of different areas, like Social Services from 2003 to 2007, and the Environment from 2007 to 2011.
While she was responsible for the environment, there were often concerns about the air quality in Madrid.
In September 2013, Madrid was trying to host the 2020 Summer Olympics. Ana Botella gave a speech during this bid. Her presentation caused a lot of discussion, and Madrid did not win the chance to host the Olympics.
On December 27, 2011, Ana Botella became the Mayor of Madrid. This happened after the previous mayor, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, resigned to become a minister in the government. On September 9, 2014, Botella announced that she would not run for mayor again in the elections held in May 2015.
Family Life
Ana Botella married José María Aznar in 1977. He later became the Prime Minister of Spain. They have three children named José María, Ana, and Alonso. Their daughter, Ana, got married in 2002 at a special place called El Escorial. Ana Botella has four grandchildren from her daughter.
