Ana Lilian's Early Life and TV Career
Growing Up in Mexico City
Ana Lilian de la Macorra was born on November 27, 1957, in Mexico City, Mexico. From a young age, she loved animals, books, and music. As a teenager, she worked in different jobs, including as a nurse, receptionist, and secretary.
Starting at Televisa
Ana Lilian began working at Televisa, a big TV company, as a production assistant. She later became an editor for the TV shows El Chavo del Ocho and El Chapulín Colorado. These shows were created by Roberto Gómez Bolaños, also known as Chespirito.
Becoming Paty in El Chavo del Ocho
In 1978, Chespirito wrote new episodes for El Chavo del Ocho. These episodes needed two new characters: Aunt Gloria and her niece, Paty. Ana Lilian was in charge of finding actresses for the role of Paty. However, none of the actresses seemed quite right for the part.
Chespirito then offered the role to Ana Lilian herself. He thought she had a beautiful and youthful face, which made her look like a young girl. She also looked a bit like Regina Torné, the actress playing Aunt Gloria.
Paty's Popularity
Ana Lilian became the third actress to play Paty. She first appeared in three episodes of El Chavo del Ocho called "The New Neighbors" in 1978. Fans loved her, so her role was extended. She appeared in a total of twelve episodes between 1978 and 1979. This made her the most remembered Paty by fans of the show.
Her character, Paty, was mostly seen at the school in the show. She also appeared in the neighborhood and at Doña Florinda's restaurant.
Singing in the Show
Ana Lilian also sang in two songs for El Chavo del Ocho. She sang "That, that, that" in the 1979 episode "Valentine's Day Part 1." She also sang "Cri Crí" at the end of the "Children's Day" episode, also from 1979.
Leaving the Spotlight
Ana Lilian made her last appearance in late 1979 in the episode "Dreaming at the Restaurant." She decided to leave acting because she did not want to be an actress. She continued working behind the scenes in production until 1980. After that, she decided to study psychology in the United States. She also had her first child in 1981.
Friendships at Televisa
Ana Lilian was good friends with Luis Felipe Macias, who first offered her the job at Televisa. She was also close friends with Paco Peña. She shared that the atmosphere on the show was very "neat and respectful." She was also friends with Edgar Vivar, who played Señor Barriga. They met again in 2015, more than 35 years later, thanks to a TV show in Brazil.
