Anatole Collinet Makosso was born in 1965 in Pointe-Noire, Republic of the Congo. He is a very important leader in his country. Since 2021, he has been the Prime Minister of the Republic of the Congo.
Before becoming Prime Minister, Mr. Makosso held other big jobs in the government. From 2015 to 2021, he was the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education. He also served as the Minister of Youth and Civic Instruction from 2011 to 2016.
Early Life and Career
Anatole Collinet Makosso started his career as a teacher. In the early 1990s, he began working in government. He was an adviser to the leader of the Kouilou area. Later, he became the Director of the Cabinet for the Kouilou leader.
From 1998 to 2011, he worked as an adviser to the President of the Republic of the Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso. During this time, he also served as the Director of the Cabinet for the First Lady, Antoinette Sassou Nguesso. In 2010, he earned a PhD in Law.
Government Roles
Mr. Makosso was first appointed as a government minister on August 17, 2011. He became the Minister of Youth and Civic Instruction. He took over this role from Zacharie Kimpouni.
On August 10, 2015, his responsibilities grew even more. He was named Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Youth, and Civic Instruction. This meant he was in charge of more areas.
After President Sassou Nguesso won the presidential election in March 2016, Mr. Makosso's roles changed slightly. He kept his job as Minister of Primary and Secondary Education and Literacy. However, Destinée Armelia Doukaga took over as Minister of Youth and Civic Instruction.
Becoming Prime Minister
In the parliamentary election in July 2017, Anatole Collinet Makosso ran for a seat in the parliament. He represented the ruling Congolese Labour Party (PCT) in the Loandjili area of Pointe-Noire. He won the election with a large number of votes, about 72%.
On May 14, 2021, Anatole Collinet Makosso was appointed Prime Minister. This made him the head of the government in the Republic of the Congo.
