He played for several teams during his career. These included the Houston Astros, San Diego Padres, and Detroit Tigers. His brother, Domingo Cedeño, was also an MLB player. Andújar Cedeño's Baseball Journey
Andújar Cedeño was a very promising young player. He was considered one of the best "prospects" (a player who is expected to become a star) in the Houston Astros' minor league system. Baseball America, a well-known baseball magazine, ranked him highly. They called him the 55th best prospect in 1990. The next year, in 1991, he was ranked as the 2nd best overall prospect!
In 1992, Andújar achieved something special. He hit for the cycle. This means he got a single, a double, a triple, and a home run all in the same game. His best season in MLB was in 1993 with the Astros. That year, he hit 11 home runs and had 58 RBIs (Runs Batted In). His batting average was .283, which is very good.
Cedeño also played for twelve seasons in the Dominican League. He played for the Toros del Este team. He became the team captain and was a key player. He helped his team win their first national championship in 1994-1995. To honor him, his jersey number 10 is displayed at Estadio Francisco Michelli. A stadium in his hometown of La Romana was also named after him. It even has a statue of him.
