Andre Royo (born July 18, 1968) is an American actor, producer, and writer. He is most famous for his role as Reginald "Bubbles" Cousins on the HBO television drama The Wire.
Royo has also appeared in other popular shows like Fringe and Party Down. He played a lawyer for the character Lucious Lyon on the FOX drama series Empire. You might also recognize him from the 2013 movie The Spectacular Now.

Personal Life
Andre Royo was born in the Bronx, a part of New York City, on July 18, 1968. His family background is both African-American and Cuban.
Growing up, Royo went to Mount Saint Michael Academy in The Bronx. As an actor, he sometimes faced challenges in auditions. Some casting directors had specific ideas for roles, and he learned to keep working hard to find the right parts for him.
Royo is married to Jane Choi, and they have a daughter named Stella.
Acting Career
Early Roles
Royo began his acting career in 1998 with a small part in the movie L.A. Without a Map. He then appeared in single episodes of the TV shows Law & Order and Third Watch in 1999.
In 2000, he had a role in the movie Shaft, which was a new version of a popular 1971 film. He also acted in the 2002 movie G, a modern story based on the classic book The Great Gatsby.
Breakthrough with 'The Wire'
Royo's most famous role was on the HBO series The Wire. From 2002 to 2008, he played Reginald "Bubbles" Cousins. The character was a man living on the streets of Baltimore who helped the police as an informant.
Royo's acting was so realistic that many people were impressed. His performance as Bubbles showed the struggles of his character and is still remembered by fans of the show.
Television Guest Appearances
After The Wire, Royo appeared in many other television shows. In 2008, he was in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and the popular series Heroes. He also had a guest role on the crime show Criminal Minds.
In 2010, he played a cab driver in the science-fiction show Fringe. He also made guest appearances on the comedy series Party Down and the police drama Prime Suspect.
Royo has also done voice acting. He voiced a character in the animated show Bob's Burgers in 2014.
Recent Work
From 2015 to 2019, Royo played Thirsty Rawlings, a clever lawyer, on the hit show Empire. He also had a main role as Mayor Robert "Bobo" Boston in the series Hand of God.
In 2015, he appeared in the Marvel series Agent Carter as a nightclub owner named Spider Raymond. In 2016, he won a Special Jury Award at the SXSW Film Festival for his acting in the movie Hunter Gatherer.
More recently, he acted alongside Octavia Spencer in the Apple TV+ series Truth Be Told. In 2024, he was featured in the music video for Chris Stapleton's song "Think I'm in Love with You".
