Career
2008: Ti lascio una canzone
In 2008, when Andrea was 13 years old, he was on an Italian TV show called Ti Lascio Una Canzone. This means "Leaving You a Song".
2012: First single
In January 2012, Andrea released his first song, "Per me e per te". Mariella Nava wrote the song. It was produced by Cantieri Sonori. The song and its music video were released in Italian.
2014: The X Factor
Andrea Faustini sang "Who's Lovin' You" by The Jackson 5 for his first audition on The X Factor. The four judges really liked his performance. Simon Cowell even said Andrea "could be really special". All the judges said "yes" to him.
Andrea was one of 114 acts who made it through the Arena Auditions in London. He was placed in the "Boys" group, and Mel B was his mentor. Andrea got through the "six-chair challenge" during bootcamp. He replaced another contestant, Hayden Leeman.
During bootcamp, Andrea sang "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" by Whitney Houston. This performance made judges Mel B and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini cry. Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell also praised him.
For the "judges' houses" round, Mel B took the "Boys" group to Cancún. Andrea sang "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" by Jennifer Hudson for Mel B and Spice Girls member Emma Bunton. Andrea was one of the four finalists chosen to perform in the live shows. These shows started on October 11, 2014.
Andrea performed "Earth Song" by Michael Jackson in the first live show. He quickly became the favorite to win the show. In week 7, he was in the bottom two with Stevi Ritchie. Mel B, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, and Louis Walsh voted to save Andrea. Simon Cowell voted to save Stevi. Andrea was saved.
Voting numbers later showed that Stevi Ritchie actually had more public votes. If the judges had not decided, Stevi would have stayed. Andrea was again in the "Final Showdown" in the semi-final with Lauren Platt. Mel B, Louis Walsh, and Simon Cowell saved Andrea again. Cheryl Fernandez-Versini voted to save Lauren.
Again, voting numbers showed Andrea had fewer public votes. If there was no "Final Showdown", Lauren would have gone to the final. Andrea ended up in third place. He was eliminated just before Fleur East (runner-up) and Ben Haenow (winner).
