Music Career Journey

Early Beginnings and The X Factor (2005-2013)

Fleur East started her music journey as part of a girl group called Addictiv Ladies. They appeared on The X Factor in 2005. Their mentor was Simon Cowell, a famous music executive. However, the group was eliminated early in the competition.

After The X Factor, Fleur continued to work on her music. In 2011, she met DJ Fresh, a drum-and-bass producer. She became a vocalist for his live performances and toured with him. In 2012, she signed with Strictly Rhythm record label. She released some singles as a lead artist, like "Broken Mirror" and "Turn the Lights On". She also sang on "One in a Million" by Drumsound & Bassline Smith, which reached number 53 on the UK charts.

Before her big break, Fleur worked as a waitress to support herself. She also worked as a fitness model. She almost gave up on music, but her friends and family encouraged her to try The X Factor again.

Return to The X Factor and Big Success (2014)

In June 2014, Fleur East auditioned for The X Factor again, this time as a solo singer. She impressed the judges, including Simon Cowell, who became her mentor once more. She made it through to the live shows.

During the semi-final, Fleur performed a cover of "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars. Her performance was amazing and became a huge hit. It even reached number one on the UK iTunes Store chart. This was a first for any X Factor contestant! Because of her popular cover, the original song was released earlier than planned. Fleur finished the competition as the runner-up, coming in second place.

After The X Factor, Fleur East signed with Simon Cowell's record label, Syco Music, in January 2015. Her first solo single, "Sax", was released in November 2015. It was a massive success, reaching number three in the UK charts and earning a platinum award.

Her first album, titled Love, Sax and Flashbacks, came out in December 2015. It reached number fourteen on the UK Albums Chart. In 2016, Fleur also signed with Columbia Records to help her music reach a global audience. In October 2017, Fleur and Syco Music decided to go their separate ways.
