Andrea Lekić (Андреа Лекић; born on September 6, 1987) is a famous Serbian former handball player. She was known for playing as a centre back.
In 2013, Andrea Lekić was named the IHF World Player of the Year. This is a huge award for a handball player! She was also considered for the same award in 2011. Besides indoor handball, Lekić also played beach handball. She even represented the Serbia-Montenegro national team in the 2006 European Beach Handball Championship.

Andrea Lekić's Handball Journey
Andrea Lekić started her handball career in 1998. She began playing at the Serbian club ORK Belgrade.
Early Club Success
In 2005, she moved to ŽRK Radnički Belgrade. A year later, she joined ŽRK Knjaz Miloš in Aranđelovac. With this team, she won the Serbian Championship in 2007.
Playing in Slovenia
After her time in Serbia, Lekić joined the Slovenian team RK Krim. She played there for four years. During this period, she won both the Slovenian championship and the Slovenian cup four times.
Hungarian and Macedonian Triumphs
Her next big move was to Győri ETO KC in Hungary. She chose this club because she wanted to win the EHF Champions League. She achieved this goal in 2013. She also won the Hungarian championship and cup twice with Győri ETO KC.
Next, she joined the Macedonian club HC Vardar. Here, she had amazing success. She won the Macedonian championship and cup every year from 2014 to 2018.
Adventures in Romania and Montenegro
After Macedonia, Andrea Lekić moved to Romania. She joined CSM București. With this team, she won the Romanian cup in 2019.
In 2020, she joined ŽRK Budućnost Podgorica in Montenegro. There, she added more domestic titles to her collection.
Return to Slovenia and Final Club Years
A year later, she returned to her former Slovenian club, RK Krim. She once again won both the Slovenian championship and cup with them.
In 2022, she joined the Hungarian team Ferencváros. With Ferencváros, she won the Hungarian championship in 2024. She also won the Hungarian cup in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, her team reached the EHF Champions League final. They played against Norwegian team Vipers Kristiansand but lost 28:24.
Playing for Her Country
Andrea Lekić proudly represented Serbia in many European Championships. These included the tournaments in 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2012. At the 2012 games, she was chosen for the tournament's All-Star team.
In 2013, she won a silver medal with the Serbian national team. This was at the 2013 World Women's Handball Championship.
Beyond the Court: Other Achievements
Andrea Lekić is not just a handball star. She also organizes the "Andrea Lekic" handball academy for children. This academy started in 2013 and helps young players learn the sport.
She also has a university degree in Economy. She studied at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management. She also continued her studies at the Faculty of Sports.
Lekić has been honored by two cities. She was made an Honorary Citizen of Győr, Hungary and Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia.
