Andrea Roane, born on October 5, 1949, is a well-known American journalist. She used to be a TV newscaster for WUSA Channel 9 in Washington, DC. She is known for her work as a news anchor and for creating the "Buddy Check 9" program.

Early Life and Education
Andrea Roane was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. She went to Holy Ghost Elementary School. Later, she graduated from the Xavier University Preparatory School.
She continued her studies at the University of New Orleans. In 1971, she earned a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education. A few years later, in 1973, she received a Master's degree in Drama & Communications.
Career in News
Andrea Roane started her career as a teacher. In 1971, she taught English to middle and high school students.
In 1975, she began working in television. She became an education reporter for a public TV station called WYES. She also hosted a weekly show and directed an education program. In 1976, she worked for CBS affiliate WWL-TV. She returned to WYES in 1978 before moving to Washington, D.C.
In 1979, Andrea Roane joined WETA, another public TV station. There, she hosted and was the main reporter for a show called Metro Week in Review.
Her most well-known role began in 1981. She moved to WUSA, a CBS-affiliated station. At WUSA, she anchored news programs on Sunday evenings and weekday mornings. Over the years, she anchored news at different times of the day. She also worked as a health reporter, sharing important health information with viewers.
After a long and successful career, Andrea Roane announced her retirement. On April 25, 2018, she shared that she would leave the news business. Her last day was July 31, 2018.

Andrea Roane is married to Michael Skehan. They have two children, a daughter named Alicia and a son named Andrew.
In 1993, Andrea Roane started an important program called "Buddy Check 9." This program helps raise awareness about breast cancer in the Washington, D.C. area.
