About Andreas Boyde

Andreas Boyde was born in Oschatz, a town in Germany. From a young age, he showed a great talent for playing the piano.

He studied music with excellent teachers. First, he learned from Christa Holzweißig and Amadeus Webersinke in Dresden. Later, he went to London to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with James Gibb. A famous pianist named Malcolm Frager was also a big help and inspiration to him.

Performing Around the World

Andreas Boyde has performed as a solo artist and with many orchestras. He has played with groups like the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden. He has also performed with orchestras in places like Malaysia, Prague, Zurich, and New York.

In 2018 and 2019, the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt (Oder) chose him as their "Artist in Residence." This means he worked closely with them for a whole season, performing and sharing his musical ideas.

Special Music Projects

Andreas Boyde is known for more than just playing concerts. He has also done some very special music projects:

  • He was the first to perform certain piano concertos in Europe. For example, he played Paul Schoenfield’s Piano Concerto Four Parables for the first time in Europe. He also gave the very first performance of John Pickard’s Piano Concerto, which was written just for him!
  • He is interested in finding and bringing old music back to life. He reconstructed (put back together) the ‘Schubert’ Variations by Robert Schumann. This piece was then published and performed for the first time in New York City. This shows his deep interest in music history.

He has also recorded many albums. These recordings include works by famous composers like Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, and Tchaikovsky. He often works with German radio stations to record his performances.
