Andrew Forde: Engineer and Musician
Andrew Forde went to the University of Toronto to study Materials Science and Engineering. In 2012, he continued his education at McMaster University. There, he worked on his Master's degree in Engineering Entrepreneurship and Innovation. This special program teaches students how to create new businesses and develop fresh ideas.
His Journey in Education and Business
Forde started his first company, Sommerfeld Solutions. This company worked on projects in different areas. These included mining, information technology, and even healthcare. He always wanted to use new ideas to solve important problems.
Improving Healthcare with Technology
One big project from Sommerfeld Solutions was called The Electronic Chart (TEC). This project received money from McMaster University and a government program called FedNor. TEC wanted to make patient care in hospitals much better. The plan was to create special software for computer tablets. The goal was to put "a computer tablet beside every hospital bed in the world." This would help doctors treat their patients quickly and easily.
