Sir Andrew Judde (born September 5, 1492 – died 1558) was an important English merchant in the 1500s. He also became the Lord Mayor of London, a very high position in the city. He was made a knight on February 15, 1551.
Andrew Judde's Life Story
Andrew Judde was born in Tonbridge. He was the third son of John Judde. When he was young, he moved to London. There, he became an apprentice with the Skinners Company. This was a group of merchants who worked with animal skins. He later became the leader of this company four times.
He became very wealthy through his business. He used some of his money to start Tonbridge School in his hometown. As a merchant, he traveled to many places. He visited Russia, Spain, and the coast of Africa.
In 1544, he served as one of the Sheriffs of London. This role was like a chief law enforcement officer for the city. In 1550, he was chosen to be the Lord Mayor of London. He strongly opposed a rebellion led by Thomas Wyatt. Because of this, he gained the support of Queen Mary and Philip II of Spain. He also served as Mayor of the Merchants of the Staple in Calais. This was a group of merchants who controlled trade in certain goods.

Sir Andrew Judde was married three times during his life.
- His first wife was Mary Murfyn. They married around 1523. Mary's father, Thomas Murfyn, had also been a Lord Mayor of London. Andrew and Mary had four sons and one daughter.

- Alice Judd, who married Thomas Smythe. Thomas was a customs collector for London.
- His second wife was Agnes (also called Annys). They married in 1542. Not much is known about her.
- His third and final wife was Mary Mathews. They married in 1552. Mary was a wealthy widow. She had been married to another skinner merchant. Andrew and Mary had one daughter.
- Martha Judd, who married Robert Golding.
Where He Was Buried
Sir Andrew Judde passed away on September 4, 1558. He was buried in St Helen's Church, Bishopsgate in London.
