Andrew Kohut was born in Newark, New Jersey. He grew up in Rochelle Park, New Jersey. His dad, Peter, worked with glass. His mom, Lena, worked in factories.
Andrew went to Seton Hall University and earned a bachelor's degree in 1964. He then studied sociology, which is the study of human society, at Rutgers University.
His Work as a Pollster
Andrew Kohut was a very important person in the world of public opinion research. He helped start the Pew Research Center. This center studies what people around the world think about important issues.
He was the president of the Pew Research Center from 2004 to 2012. Before that, he led the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press from 1993 to 2012.
Andrew often appeared on TV shows like PBS NewsHour and on National Public Radio. He also wrote for newspapers like The New York Times. He would share the results of Pew's polls and explain what they meant.
