Andrés Perelló de Segurola (born March 27, 1874 – died January 23, 1953) was a famous opera singer from Spain. He had a very deep voice, known as a bass voice. He performed in many big opera houses and later appeared in movies too.
Biography
Early Life and Opera Career
Andrés de Segurola was born in Valencia, Spain, on March 27, 1874. He became a very important singer at the Metropolitan Opera Company in New York City. He sang there for many years, from 1901 to 1920.
Beyond the Stage
Towards the end of his time at the Metropolitan Opera, Andrés de Segurola also became an impresario. This means he helped organize and present opera shows. For example, in 1916, he put on a four-week opera season in Havana, Cuba. Famous singers like Geraldine Farrar were part of his company.
After he stopped performing on stage, he started teaching singing. Many people learned from him. One of his most famous students was the actress and singer Deanna Durbin.
Andrés de Segurola passed away on January 23, 1953, in Barcelona, Spain.
