After this successful period, Dorman wanted to stay with New England, but a new contract could not be agreed upon.
Time with St Mirren
Dorman then moved to Scotland and signed with St Mirren in the Scottish Premier League. He made his debut on January 19, 2008, helping his team win 3-1. He also scored a winning goal in a Scottish Cup game.
His strong performances in the 2008–09 season caught the eye of other teams. St Mirren decided to keep him for an extra year. Dorman was even named the Scottish Premier League Player of the Month twice. He finished that season as St Mirren's joint top scorer with 12 goals.
In the next season, Dorman faced a hamstring injury that kept him out for six weeks. However, he later scored two goals in a big 4-0 win against Celtic. He ended the season as St Mirren's top league scorer again. After two years, Dorman decided to leave St Mirren.
Joining Crystal Palace
After his contract with St Mirren ended, Dorman moved to England to play for Crystal Palace in the Championship league. He made his debut on the first day of the season in a 3-2 win. Two months later, he scored his first goal for the team. However, he struggled to get regular playing time. His contract with Crystal Palace ended on August 31, 2012.
