Angel's Triangle is a neighborhood in El Paso, Texas. It is located in the northeast part of the city. This area used to be called the Devil's Triangle. It had a difficult reputation in the past.

The neighborhood is shaped like a triangle. It is bordered by Dyer Street on the east. The Patriot Freeway (U.S. Route 54) is on its west side. Hondo Pass Avenue forms its northern border. Angel's Triangle has many apartment buildings and older homes. You can find shops and businesses along Dyer Street and Hondo Pass Avenue.

Who Lives Here?

In 2000, a study showed that many families in Angel's Triangle faced economic challenges. About 65 percent of the people lived below the poverty level at that time. Around 1,800 children under 18 lived in the neighborhood in 2000.

Schools and Parks

Students in Angel's Triangle attend schools in the El Paso Independent School District. Most of the neighborhood is zoned for Moye Elementary School. This school is just outside the neighborhood to the east. The northern part of the neighborhood, from Maxwell Avenue to Hondo Pass Avenue, goes to Whitaker Elementary School. For middle school, students attend Canyon Hills Middle School. High school students go to Irvin High School.

Wainwright Elementary School is located within Angel's Triangle. It opened in 1949 but closed in 2005. Today, the school building is used by the El Paso school district as a science center. For many years, even after it closed, its student clinic helped people living in the neighborhood.

There are also parks in Angel's Triangle. Part of Wainwright Elementary's playground is now a neighborhood park. Another park is Wellington Chew Park. It is on Maxwell Avenue and has a center for senior citizens.
