Angela Narth was born in Sudbury, Ontario. She grew up in Québec. When she was 23, she moved to Western Canada. Angela is talented in many ways. She is an actress and a writer. She writes fiction books as Angela K. Narth. She has also written non-fiction books using the name Angela Murphy.
Angela's Education and Early Career
Angela studied at two universities. She earned a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Ottawa. This degree helps her understand how people learn. She also has a bachelor's degree in Special Education and Anthropology from the University of British Columbia.
Before becoming a full-time writer, Angela had several interesting jobs. She worked as a teacher and a school administrator. She was also a university lecturer, teaching students at a university.
Angela's Popular Children's Books
After her teaching career, Angela wrote her first children's book. It was called Simon With Two Left Feet. This book was published in 2000. It quickly became very popular!
Simon With Two Left Feet Success
Simon With Two Left Feet was a huge success. It stayed on the best-seller list for 47 weeks in a row. In 2001, it was a finalist for the McNally Robinson Book of the Year for Young People award. In 2007, it won a Bronze International Moonbeam Award for Children's Fiction. This shows how much people loved the story.
The book was even turned into a play for children. It was performed for the first time in Winnipeg in 2009.
More Children's Stories
Angela wrote more children's books after Simon With Two Left Feet.
- The Very Last Ladybug War was published in 2001. It also came out in French, called La toute derniere guerre de coccinelle.
- Fergus Prince of Frogs came out in 2003. This book was also a finalist for the McNally Robinson Book of the Year for Young People award that same year.
Angela's English children's books are published by GWEV Publishing. They have also been made into "Picture-mation" by Cinerio Entertainment. This means you can watch them on DVD as well as read them in print.
Angela's Non-Fiction Books
In 2005, Angela also published books for adults. These were non-fiction books, meaning they were based on facts. Folklore Publishing in Edmonton published three of these books:
