Angelica Rozeanu (born Adelstein) (15 October 1921 – 21 February 2006) was a famous Romanian table tennis player. She was of Jewish origin. Many people consider her the most successful female table tennis player ever. She won the women's world singles title an amazing six times in a row!

Angelica's Amazing Table Tennis Journey
Angelica started playing table tennis when she was eight years old. She was recovering from an illness called scarlet fever at the time.
Early Wins
In 1933, when she was just 12, Angelica won the Romanian Cup. She then won the Romanian national championship in 1936. She remained Romania's top female player for the next 21 years. This period was from 1936 to 1957, not counting the years during World War II. Her first big international win was the 1938 Hungarian Open.
Challenges During World War II
Angelica's career faced a big challenge during World War II. From 1940 to 1944, she was not allowed to even enter a gym in Romania. This meant she could not play table tennis during those years.
Becoming a World Champion
After the war, Angelica returned to the sport. She won her first World Championship in 1950. This win started an incredible streak. She went on to win the championship six years in a row! No other female player has achieved this feat since. She was also the last non-Asian woman to win this title.
In total, Angelica won 17 world titles. This includes 12 silver and bronze medals at the World Championships. She won three world women's doubles titles. She also won three world mixed doubles titles. She was by far Romania's most famous table tennis player. She even served as the President of the Romanian Table Tennis Commission from 1950 to 1960.
Life in Israel
In 1960, Angelica moved to Israel. She continued her success there. She won the Maccabiah Games Table Tennis Championship in 1961. She was also Israel's champion from 1960 to 1962. She always stayed in touch with her home country, Romania. She visited Romania for the last time in 2005. Angelica passed away in 2006 at the age of 84.
Awards and Recognition
Angelica Rozeanu received many honors for her incredible achievements.
- In 1954, she was given the Romanian title of Merited Master of Sport.
- She also received four Order of Work honors.
- In 1997, she was awarded the Knesset Medal.
- In 2001, she was named an Honorary Citizen of Haifa.
Her amazing career was recognized globally. She was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 1981. Later, in 1995, she was also inducted into the ITTF Hall of Fame.
