Angus is a small place in Nebraska, United States. It is called an unincorporated hamlet. This means it is a tiny community. It does not have its own local government. It is located in Nuckolls County. This county is in the state of Nebraska. Angus is about seven miles south of a town called Edgar.

Why is it Called Angus?

The community of Angus was named after a man named J. B. Angus. He was a railroad man. This means he worked for the railroad company. Many towns in the past were named after people connected to the railroads.

The Sod House of Angus

In 1967, something special was built in Angus. It was a sod house. A sod house is a home made from blocks of soil and grass. People built these homes when wood was scarce. This sod house was built to celebrate the town's 100th birthday. This is called a centennial.

What Happened to the Sod House?

A small part of the sod house remained for many years. As late as 2006, a piece of its wall was still standing. It even had a window. However, it is possible that this last piece has fallen down since then.
