Anishinabe of Wauzhushk Onigum facts for kids
Anishinabe of Wauzhushk Onigum (which means Wazhashk-Onigam Anishinaabeg in the Ojibwe language) is a group of Anishinaabe people. They are a First Nation located in the northwestern part of Ontario, Canada.
This First Nation has its own special lands called reserves. These include Kenora 38B and a shared reserve known as Agency 30. The Anishinabe of Wauzhushk Onigum are also part of a larger group called the Anishinabeg of Kabapikotawangag Resource Council. They are also connected to the Grand Council of Treaty 3.
How Wauzhushk Onigum is Governed
The Wauzhushk Onigum First Nation has its own leaders who help make decisions for their community. This is how they govern themselves.
The Chief and Council
The community is led by a Chief and three Council members. These leaders are chosen by the members of Wauzhushk Onigum through an election. This means people vote for who they want to represent them.
As of August 2025, the Chief of Wauzhushk Onigum is Chris Skead. The Council members who work alongside him are Marion Prince, Ed Skeid, and Donald Biggeorge. They work together to manage the community's affairs and represent its people.
