She was known for writing books about the lives of important people, especially those involved in mathematics and logic. She wrote about Jean van Heijenoort and, with her husband Solomon Feferman, about Alfred Tarski.

Anita Burdman Feferman was born on July 27, 1927. She grew up in Los Angeles, California. She went to Hollywood High School. Later, she studied at the University of California, Los Angeles. In 1948, she earned her first degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
After college, Anita became a schoolteacher. She taught in the Oakland, California school system. She also earned another degree in teaching from UC Berkeley. In 1956, her husband, Solomon Feferman, got a job at Stanford University. They moved with their two daughters to the San Francisco Peninsula. Anita Feferman passed away on April 9, 2015.
Her Books
At Stanford, Anita Feferman joined a special writing group. This group focused on writing biographies, which are books about people's lives.
Her first biography was about Jean van Heijenoort. He was a person who worked with important thinkers. The book was called Politics, Logic, and Love: The Life of Jean van Heijenoort. It was also published as From Trotsky to Gödel: The Life of Jean van Heijenoort.
With her husband, Solomon Feferman, she also wrote a biography about Alfred Tarski. Tarski was a famous logician, someone who studies how we reason. Their book was titled Alfred Tarski: Life and Logic.
