Anjum Anand (born August 15, 1971) is a British food writer and TV chef. She is well-known for her amazing Indian food recipes.
About Anjum Anand
Anjum Anand grew up in London, England. She also lived and studied in other exciting cities. These include Geneva, Paris, and Madrid. She learned to speak both French and Spanish. Anjum also earned a degree in European business administration.
When she was younger, Anjum faced challenges with her weight. This experience inspired her to create healthier versions of traditional Indian dishes. She learned to use wholesome ingredients and less oil. Her goal was to make Indian food both delicious and good for you.
At just 25 years old, Anjum published her first cookbook. It was called Indian Every Day: Light Healthy Indian Food. This book showed people how to enjoy Indian meals in a healthier way.
Anjum on TV
From 2004 to 2007, Anjum was a regular guest on a TV show called Great Food Live. She also appeared on the BBC Two series Indian Food Made Easy in 2007. Her friendly style and clear explanations made her very popular. Some people even compared her to another famous chef, Nigella Lawson, for Indian cooking in Britain.
In September 2008, Anjum released her third cookbook, Anjum's New Indian. A new BBC television series followed in November. She also wrote for The Times Online food pages. Anjum even helped the Birds Eye brand create healthy Indian ready meals.
The Spice Tailor
In 2011, Anjum launched her own food brand called The Spice Tailor. This brand makes easy-to-use Indian sauces. It helps people cook authentic Indian meals at home. The Spice Tailor became very successful. In October 2022, the brand was sold to Premier Foods.
Anjum's Life
Besides her home in England, Anjum Anand also has family homes in Delhi and Calcutta in India.
