Anka Krizmanić (1896–1987) was a talented Croatian artist. She was known for her beautiful paintings and prints. Later in her life, she became a scientific illustrator. Anka Krizmanić was active as an artist for many years, from 1910 to 1946.

Anka Krizmanić's Artistic Journey
Anka Krizmanić started her art education in Zagreb, Croatia. She attended a private painting school called the Krizman School of Painting. There, she learned from the artist Tomislav Krizman.
Continuing Her Studies
Anka loved learning and continued to improve her skills.
- From 1913 to 1917, she studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Dresden, Germany.
- Later, from 1920 to 1930, she spent time studying art in Paris, France.
Special Art Projects
Anka Krizmanić worked on different kinds of art.
- In 1921 and 1922, she created lithographic maps of Dubrovnik. This was a special way of making prints for maps.
- She also created two main series of paintings. One series was about "dance," inspired by famous dancers like Anna Pavlova, Grete Wiesenthal, and Gertrud Leistikow. The other series was called "lovers."
A Change in Career
In 1946, Anka Krizmanić started a new path. She became a scientific illustrator for the School of Medicine in Zagreb. This meant she drew detailed pictures for science and medicine. After this, she spent less time on her painting.
