Anna is a small, quiet community located in Baker County, Georgia, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of the larger county.

Where is Anna Located?

Anna is found along Georgia Route 200, also known as Damascus Road. Many other roads, both paved and dirt, crisscross the area. Some of these include Jarvis Road, Hudson Road, and Rentz Bridge Road.

History and Buildings

Anna once had its own post office. Benjamin N. Sanders was the postmaster, starting on March 2, 1904. However, the post office closed on May 15, 1905, and its mail was sent to the Milford post office instead.

Today, Anna has a courthouse and several homes. You can also see some old, abandoned buildings. One of these used to be a general store called Gain's Grocery.

The Old Rentz Bridge

One of the oldest bridges in Baker County is the Rentz Bridge. It is located on Rentz Bridge Road within the Anna community. This bridge crosses over the Ichauway Nochaway Creek. It was updated in 1956 to make it more modern.

Community Churches

The main church in Anna is the Live Oak Free Will Baptist Church. It was started by Warren McDonald and built by Mood Richardson in 1884.

Church Buildings Over Time

  • In 1908, a second church building was constructed. This building had two stories. The second floor was used for regular monthly meetings by a group called the Woodmen of the World.
  • In 1976, a third church building was built. This is the building that stands there today.
  • The church got its name from the tall oak trees that stood near the very first building.

What is Anna Like Today?

As of 2011, Anna is still a small farming community. Most of what remains are farms and homes.
