Anna-Lena Löfgren was a famous Swedish singer. She was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on May 1, 1944. She passed away on May 21, 2010. Anna-Lena was very popular, especially in the 1960s. Many of her songs became big hits.

Between 1962 and 1995, over 40 of her songs appeared on Svensktoppen. This was a very important music chart in Sweden. She became one of the most well-known schlager singers of her time. Schlager music is a type of popular music, often with catchy melodies.

Early Career and First Hits

Anna-Lena first appeared on the radio in the 1950s. She was on a show called Barnens brevlåda. Later, another Swedish singer, Rock-Olga, discovered her. This happened at a music spot in Stockholm called Nalen.

Her big break came in 1962. This was with her song "Regniga natt". This song was a huge success. It sold over 100,000 copies. This earned it a "gold" certification. It also reached the top of the Svensktoppen chart that year.

Continued Success in the 1960s

Anna-Lena's success continued with more songs. Some of these popular songs included "Se mig i ögonen älskling" and "Måndag måndag". Other hits were "Kärlek på lasarett" and "Det finns ingenting att hämta".

Her most famous song was "Lyckliga gatan". This means "Happy Street" in English. It came out in 1967. This song was certified gold in Sweden. It also earned "platinum" and "diamond" awards in Norway. This means it sold a huge number of copies.

The melody for "Lyckliga gatan" came from an Italian song. It was called "Il ragazzo della via Gluck". This song was by Adriano Celentano. Anna-Lena added Swedish words to the tune. She performed "Lyckliga gatan" thousands of times during her career. She also recorded a German version. It was called "Immer am Sonntag".

International Recognition

Anna-Lena Löfgren also found success in German-speaking countries. She was popular in West Germany during the 1960s. She released more than 22 songs there. One of her most popular German songs was "Abschiednehmen Ist So Schwer". This was a cover of Neil Sedaka's song "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do".

Melodifestivalen Appearances

Anna-Lena Löfgren took part in Melodifestivalen twice. This is a big music contest in Sweden. The winner gets to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Later Life and Career

In the 1980s, Anna-Lena moved to Rånäs. This town is located outside of Stockholm. She lived there until she passed away. Interestingly, her home address was on a street called "Lyckliga gatan". This was the same name as her most famous song.

Her last song to appear on the Svensktoppen chart was "Välkommen till Pireus". This happened in 1995. She stopped touring and performing live in 2005.
