About Annabel Pitcher
Annabel Pitcher grew up in a small village in West Yorkshire, England. She loved reading and learning, which led her to study English Literature at the famous Oxford University.
After her studies, Annabel became a teacher. She taught English at Wakefield Girls' High School before her first book was published.
Annabel's First Books
Annabel Pitcher's first novel, My Sister Lives on the Mantelpiece, was released in 2011. This book tells the story of a family dealing with a very sad event. It quickly became a bestseller and was translated into more than twenty languages around the world.
This book received many honors. It was nominated for several important awards, including the Red House Children's Book Award and the 2012 Carnegie Medal. It also won the Royal Society of Authors' Betty Trask Award and the Hull Children's Book of the Year. In 2012, it won the special Branford Boase Award for being an outstanding first novel. Annabel's books are usually enjoyed by readers aged 10 to 15.
Her second novel, Ketchup Clouds, came out in 2012. This book also won a major award, the Waterstones Children's Book Prize. In 2014, it received the Edgar Allan Poe award for 'Best Young Adult Novel' from the Mystery Writers of America.
